Nick McInally, CFA®, ACP

Nick McInally is a finance writer and freelance contributor of investment journalism services for Federal Benefits Service. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation as well as Moody’s Accounting for Credit Professionals (ACP).

Because of his decade of experience in the financial services industry, including his current role as associate vice president and relationship manager at Vectra Bank Colorado, he understands the financial services industry at a deep level. In the past, he has held positions including portfolio manager, senior credit analyst, and licensed financial services representative for firms ranging from First Western Trust, to SRS Acquiom, to Charles Schwab. He still holds inactive Series 7 and Series 66 securities registrations.

Nick says, “At Vectra Bank Colorado, I specialize in commercial lending, credit analysis, and relationship management for middle-market businesses. I am passionate about combining analytical rigor with relationship building to drive client success. My position allows me the opportunity to help businesses grow, and individuals reach their financial goals, making a direct impact in my community.”

Nick uses his experience, inside knowledge, and financial insights to write incisive articles to reach clients beyond his own Denver community. As a freelance financial journalist for Federal Employee Retirement Services, he produces research-driven content and speaks at relevant industry seminars.

With Midwest roots, Nick is based in Denver, Colorado, where he lives with his wife and two daughters, Violet and Lucy (4-1/2 years and 2 months old, respectively) and rescue dog, Gracie, a 2-year-old spaniel mix. In addition to his full-time job and freelance journalism work, he is also a small business owner of Altitude Salon & Spa, leading a team of 10 employees which generate nearly $1MM in annual sales.

Nick’s other roles include serving as a childhood development and environmental stewardship volunteer for the Nature School Cooperative, a member and contributor for the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation, a member and contributor for the CFA Society of Colorado, and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Restore. “This work is important to me because my involvement builds stronger communities, models stewardship, and fosters equity and accessibility,” Nick says.

Nick earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in finance from Butler University in Indiana, where he graduated magna cum laude. As an NCAA Division I Athlete – Butler University Football, he received All-Conference honors.

In his free time, Nick enjoys spending time with family, outdoor recreation, reading, small business entrepreneurship, and all things Detroit sports.
