Karen Kenion has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, and is a regional benefits director for Federal Benefits Service. She is designated as a Certified Federal Benefits Specialist (CFBS), holds a Master of Science in Marketing (MSM) from University of Maryland, College Park, and she holds her life insurance license in eight states, including Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C., Indiana, Pennsylvania, Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia.
“Federal Benefits Service has been partnered with OPM (United States Office of Personnel Management) over 20 years, and I explain to everyone that Federal Benefits Service is a GSA Certified Vendor which has been serving all branches of the United States Government since 2000; specializing within the United States Postal States Postal Service,” Karen says.
Prior to joining FBS, Karen was vice president of sales and account management for a firm in the private sector, where for six years she led a team of 40 high-performing sales and account managers to foster strong client relationships. Prior to that, she was director of account services for a dental organization where she managed 10 account managers, working to increase member retention.
Karen has a deep commitment to her clients. “I personally meet with all my federal employee clients to review their benefits on a yearly basis. I want to discuss any changes in their situation or financial goals so that we can help ensure their plan is on track for the upcoming year,” she says. “My favorite part of the job is knowing that I am assisting a client with their retirement. I’m committed to educating people and helping them protect their assets, and I truly want them to make the decisions that will support their long-term goals. The end result is having a satisfied client that trusts you, and that means the world to me.”
Originally from Jamaica, Karen moved to Maryland when she was 15 years old, where she still resides. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Averett University, Danville, Virginia, and a Master of Science degree in marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.
